LT-FM004 Jet Forces Apparatus

Device Image
Description Technical Details
The experimental unit includes a transparent tank, a nozzle, four interchangeable deflectors with different deflection angles and a weight-loaded scale. The force of the water jet is adjusted via the flow rate. Experiments study the influence of flow velocity and flow rate as well as of different deflection angles. The jet forces generated by the water jet are measured on the weight-loaded scale. The forces are calculated using the momentum equation and compared with the measurements.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand the principles of water jet forces and their dependence on flow velocity and flow rate.
  2. Explore the effects of different deflection angles on the behavior of water jets.
  3. Learn how to measure water jet forces using a weight-loaded scale.
  4. Calculate forces using the momentum equation and compare theoretical results with experimental measurements.
  5. Develop practical skills in adjusting flow rates to study their impact on water jet forces.
  6. Gain experience with experimental setups involving a transparent tank, nozzle, and interchangeable deflectors.
