LT-FU130 Calibrating a Pressure Sensor

Device Image
Description Technical Details

Labtronic offers the experimental unit, ideal for calibrating electronic pressure sensors under practical conditions. Test pressure is generated using a piston manometer, where weight rings apply force on the piston to create a defined pressure. A hand-operated spindle relieves pressure post-measurement, allowing the piston to return to rest, while rotating the piston minimizes friction. This test pressure is applied to the diaphragm of a pressure sensor, with the pressure-dependent electrical output shown on a digital display. The sensor uses a ceramic measuring cell with piezo resistors forming a measuring bridge, evaluated by an amplifier circuit. The kit also includes a cutaway model of a second pressure sensor for clarity, all contained in a compact, user-friendly housing.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Learning about and performing the calibration of an electronic pressure sensor
  2. Plotting the sensor's output signal based on the applied pressure
  3. Understanding the design and functionality of a piezo-resistive electronic pressure sensor
  4. Gaining knowledge on the installation and connection of the pressure sensor
  5. Providing information on the applications, measuring ranges, and accuracies of common electronic pressure sensors
